What
is Coaching?
The
ICF (International Coach Federation) defines coaching as “an
ongoing professional relationship that helps people produce extraordinary
results in their lives, careers, businesses or organizations. Through
the process of coaching, clients deepen their learning, improve
their performance, and enhance their quality of life.
In
each meeting, the client chooses the focus of conversation, while
the coach listens and contributes observations and questions. This
interaction creates clarity and moves the client into action. Coaching
accelerates the client's progress by providing greater focus and
awareness of choice. Coaching concentrates on where clients
are now and what they are willing to do to get where they want to
be in the future.
Benefits of Working with a Coach
- More
money. When you focus on money and use a coach as your
guide, you tend to make more of it, reducing expenses and developing
new ways to attain more.
- More
of life. A coach focuses on all areas of your life and
helps you integrate what works and get rid of the rest.
- Better
decisions. Discussing ideas and concerns with someone
independent yet subjective usually results in better decision-making.
- Faster
development. If you’re interested in ‘growing
yourself’, a coach can double your rate of development and
help you zero in on the blocks and resolve them so you can move
forward.
- Fewer
problems. A coach will help you extend your boundaries
and significantly raise your standards.
- A
fully-supportive partner. Almost nothing worth doing
is worth doing alone. When you’re a leader in your life,
you need someone to hang with and discuss the tough stuff. With
a coach, you have a non-judgmental partner who is there to support
you in the good times and the low times.
“Coaching
concentrates on where clients are now and what they
are willing to do to get where they want to be in the
future.”
